Brad and Julie Bradburd, UUs for more than sixty years, donated $1 million to the Unitarian Universalist Association this summer in support of the board’s $5.3 million commitment to Black Lives of UU, UUA Stewardship and Development Director Mary Katherine Morn announced June 25 at General Assembly.

During the President's Report at GA, Interim Co-President William G. Sinkford announced “The Promise and the Practice of Our Faith” campaign, which will invite congregations to plan a worship service about racial justice this fall or winter and to take a special collection during that service. The campaign aims to raise $1 million to match the Bradburds’ gift.

The Bradburds described the opportunity for UUs to financially support BLUU as “an opportunity we have to achieve this repair and rejuvenation for our faith.”

Morn said of the couple: “They have been showing up for justice for [six] decades. Racial justice is their passion. They want us to do better.” She said broader campaign efforts will financially support other UU racial justice work as well as BLUU’s work.
